More wedded bliss

I've finished the post box. These are the pictures of the finished item with the lid. I kept the top fairly simple and used Making memories glitter lettering for the "Thank you". I studded around the lid with red gems to hide the glue dots that are keeping the ribbon in place.

Wedded bliss

My middle brother gets married next Sunday. I had the privilege of being asked to decorate the post box for the cards to go into on the day. I have never done one of these before, but with a bit of guidance from the ladies at CBC this is what I came up with.

I still need to finish off the lid (will post pics of that later), but I hope that they will like it.
I also made them this card.
Its not my own design I'm afraid to say, but I thought that the idea was lovely so I went with it. I love the way that the central decoupage fits in with the decoupage on the aperture at the front. Lining them up properly was a bit of a pain though. There is probably a really easy way to do it that I don't know about lol.
I can't wait to get there next week and see the brides dress and everything and everyone else.

I have just discovered a new blog which looks more than promising. It is called The Next Level and there will be challenges, tutorial, hint and more. The Next Level is run by Dawn and Ann and it's official launch date is June 1st.

Pop over and show your support. There is candy up for grabs and it looks like it is going to be lots of fun.

Pink and Blue

A few weeks ago, I discovered an addiction to die cut decoupage. The result was a CD box full of ready made decoupage just in case I ever needed to make a quick card. I'm doing well enough to admit that I was addicted now lol.

Anyway, I have decided that I need to use some of them up if I want to buy some more and this is what I have made. I think they are cute and I am already on the lookout for more from this range. I don't usually make two cards the same, but I thought a variation on a theme was warranted here. :-)

Buttons Buttons Buttons

After two weeks of not crafting (mainly because of ill health) I finally made a card. This one is for the Penny Black Saturday challenge week 50 challenge. I very rarely use buttons on cards, but I enjoyed this one. I love this stamp..... it's so cheerful to look at. Hope you like it.

Gold

I use a lot of silver on my cards and I am kinda scared of pattern so this weekend was a challenge in it self. Two more cards for challenges.

The first is for the weekly challenge over at Rosie-Dees Challenge The gold self embossed paper is a step outside of my comfort zone and this card also features my first real attempt at decoupage. (I tried to do it once years ago and couldn't cut the pictures out well enough to use them). This is a die cut set from the flower fairies range and I am looking forward to doing more.

My second card is for a challenge called Cafe Culture over at CBC Its a bit of a cheeky make, but it is my favourite coffee. I wont be selling this one so I hope it doesn't infringe on any copy right.

Penny Black Challenge

This weeks challenge over at Penny Black Saturday Challenge is a "Penny Black" Black, White + 1 colour of your choice.

We could only use the colours Black and white plus one other colour so I chose my fav.... purple.

I'm quite pleased with how it turned out and any one who has seen the stuff that I have made two or three months ago will agree that my cards are improving (believe me there is a definate difference).

I would have liked to put a bigger flower on it, but I didn't have any in the right colour. Oh well.... will be forced to go craft shopping again....

There are prizes up for grabs for this challenge, so go take a look and join in.

Forever Fun

Todays card was made in response to a challenge on sketches(by Tamara). It's a bit of a departure from my usual cards, but I really enjoyed making it. The main butterfly is a silver peel off that I turned pink with a permanent marker which I then stuck onto a piece of acatate and folded for a 3d effect. I coloured it using Sakura Gelly roll stardust pens for a glitter effect. The word fun is blue glitter on a chip board flower.

I don't know why I didn't try doing 3d butterflies before. This was fun.

Need Nesties

I had a friend over for a crop today and we spent so much time talking craft stuff that we only managed one card each in four hours!!! The end result for me was one card that I am really pleased with and the burning need to go out and buy nestabilities.

U R A Star

Today I made my most ambitious card to date. I don't usually make big cards as I am always worried that I won't put enough on or I will end up putting too much on. This one is made from A4 card folded in half (A5) Any way, I love the end result and I am looking forward to making more like it.

I thought the card would be good for a teenager :-) I strung some stars onto silver embroidery thread to go in the appature to continue the star theme. I don't think they show up too clearly in the photo. The lettering was done using Making Memories Mini shimmer alphabet and the card was double sided pink and black.

The first pic is the front. The second is the inside and the last is my attempt of getting a photo of the whole thing. Maybe I should sign up for photography lessons lol.
